Ring in the New Year FireFlies style!

We've got the bluesy-funk of the Kelly Bell Band rockin' the house and a DJ to keep the tunes spinning on breaks!
We are clearing out the tables by 8pm so you can get your groove on! We will be open all day up until then for regular menu. After that, our New Year's party will be in full swing!
The party starts at 9pm and won't end 'til it's 2009!

Tickets are on sale now at FireFlies. $20 in advance and, if there are any left, $25 at the door. You can buy your tickets through a manager, your waiter, or the bartender.
We will have a shuttle going to the Braddock Metro and various points down Mt. Vernon Ave. to make your trip home safer.

Bluegrass Oktoberfest is here! This Saturday, October 4th!

Join us at FireFlies for a fun filled day of bluegrass tunes by The Zekiah Swamp Cats, bratwursts on the patio (off our 6ft. grill), and cold Oktoberfest brews! We also have a new specialty drink menu- that will flip your lid!

The A/C- she's a-workin'

Folks, sorry for all the heat around here- we like it hot! No, just kidding... we were having some troubles with our A/C units keeping up. BUT, we got it worked out and now we are back in the cool again! So, if you stayed away due to the heat- come on back in and cool off with a tasty drink from our new bar menu! Or sample some of the new fare on our most recent menu!

Well, the time has come... the bar is opening this week!!! Starting July 1st, we will be open until 11pm Tuesday- Thursday, 'till midnight on Friday, and 3pm on Sundays....

THEN..... beginning July 21st, we will be open 7 DAYS/WEEK!!!

After July 21st this will be our hours:
Monday- Thursday 11-11
Friday 11am-12am
Saturday 9am-12am
Sunday 9am-11pm

Join us on Saturday, June 14th for flag day! Flights of Fire, the fire dancing crew will be back on our patio at 8:30pm. Also, Tim Parks will be playing inside starting around 7:30. And, to top it all off, we are firin' up the grill and cookin' up some tasty treats! All food off the grill will be available to go while walking up the Avenue and inside the restaurant if you want to sit, relax, have a drink, and enjoy the show! Our regular menu will also be available. We hope to see you there!

Flights of Fire Are Coming Back!

Mark your calenders! Flights of Fire, those cool fire throwers who were here on First Thursday, will be back on June 14th! It's a Saturday, so stop on by and check them out. It's a lot of fun and the show will get started on our patio around sundown. Hope to see you there!

What a great First Thursday!

Well, I don't know how many of you were there last night, but Tim Parks was rockin' and Flights of Fire were, well, on Fire!! It was a great night and a great show! We're planning to books more evenings with both... so if you missed this one, be sure to catch the next one!

We have not one, but TWO bands lined up to play on Thursday from 6-9pm- Tim Parks AND Brainfang. It'll be a lot of fun!

What's up with the big, giant monkey and all those sunglasses?

So, if you've been into the restaurant lately, you've probably noticed our big, giant monkey. He was a gift from a local passerby who was looking to give the monkey a new home. We thought our little patrons would enjoy playing with him.. and well, now he seems to have become somewhat of a mascot at the restaurant. Feel free to give him a hug, a flick on his crazy, pointed nose, or whatever.. but please give him some love...

And those shades? Well, we have a west-facing building with LARGE windows that stare right into the sun. While sunset is beautiful, it can be a little bright while trying to gaze into the eyes of a loved one over some tasty food. So, we thought we'd offer some sunglasses while the sun sets for the night. We have some silly ones, some more traditional styles, some groovy 80s-style ones, and crazy star-shaped ones for the kiddies. Please enjoy them while at the restaurant, but leave them for others to enjoy.

Coming to Brunch?

Our Brunch was reviewed yesterday in the Washington Post. Our Brunch, according to the Post, is worth getting out of bed for! It's a pretty great review and we are really excited about it. If you haven't been in for Brunch, what are you waiting for? It's not for the weak at heart- it's a loud, rowdy Bluegrass Brunch full of great music and even better food! We've also rolled out our new pizzas and entrees for Spring- we'll be changing our salads and sandwiches in the next couple of weeks

FireStar at FireFlies

We've just started a new event at FireFlies called FireStar. It's a customer driven music contest and, man, it's a lot of fun! Every Tuesday from 6-9pm bands try to woo our guests into voting for them. If they win the vote, the band is then invited back to play a full set on the second Thursday after the gig.
If you are a band and want to compete, email us at chefthomasr@gmail.com.
If you are a groupie, come in and vote for your favorite band.
If you are a foodie, just come in and enjoy great music and great food!

We have music every Tues and Thurs from 6-9pm. We also have live bluegrass from our favorite bluegrass band every Sunday- Big Hillbilly Bluegrass from 11am-2pm!
